Kenneth asked:

Ok, I have started a daily walking regimen but when I walk on the concrete sidewalks my lower legs start to ache. When I walk on the soft track at the school I don’t have this problem. Since the track is not always available and walking through town is a lot less boring I was wondering if there is any special type of shoes to use for walking on concrete?
try to be specific, other than “good athletic shoes”. What brands?

    Rubber ripples work best.

I hope that you are wearing some good athletic shoes.

You’re getting what is called shin splints. It is a lower leg/ankle pain that occurs when you walk vigoursly for a period of time on concrete or any hard surface. It causes extra shocks and vibrations to go through your leg causing it to hurt.

I would say get some good walking shoes. I have Kangaroos (the shoes) and they work very well.

    Good Luck!

    Not the shoes; the inserts.
Go to Walmart and buy Dr. Scholls shoe inserts for construciton workers. Green and brown.
