Rachelle S asked:

I am wearing a strapless dress for my wedding in November but cannot seem to find any white satin strappy LOW HEEL (under 5cm) shoes I can wear. I also want to be able to try them on before the wedding (not order online) Will it look silly to wear peep toe or closed toe heels to a spring outdoor wedding?

I don’t think it would be silly at all, spring doesnt have to equal strappy, but you say outside, does that mean standing on grass? perhaps a wedge style would be more practical.
There are quite a few pretty strappy flats around at the minute - I don’t know where you live (or what country) but Office have some good ones.
    Otherwise try department stores.

I know you don’t really want to buy online but you can get some real bargains in shoes on Ebay. And if they don’t fit you just sell them again!! Have a look in the Yellow Pages for dress agencies in your area. Good ones sell lovely shoes as well as dresses and they often have brand new stuff too

don’t worry about the style of shoe, just choose a pair that feels right to you. youre the one who has to wear them for the day!
personally, i wore sketchers trainers on my big day. they were hidden under my dress but very comfy!!!
( i do have balance problems tho and didnt want to have to worry about faling over in “normal” shoes)

    I’m lost!!!

you say spring outdoor wedding.. but you say your wedding is in NOVEMBER??? november is NOT spring..

The shoes you are looking for are kitten heels. They can come open or closed toe.

Strappy sandals are everywhere, I don’t understand how you can’t find any?.. Shoe heels start at 1′.. so if you can’t wear 1′, then you’ll have to compromise and wear something else. No one really cares about shoes.. find something on sale.. by then, you’ll pass by hundreds of sales while stores stock up for winter..

you didn’t say how long the dress is. if the dress is knee length, and you have skinny legs, then you can get away with wearing flats. I’m not built like that and whenever I try to wear flats with shorts or a skirt, it makes me look short and squatty. if the dress is short and you’re not wearing hose, the closed toe shoes are fine for spring. you can’t wear hose with any open toe shoe either FYI. only grandmas do that. if the dress is a long gown to the floor, it doesn’t really matter what shoes you wear because if the dress is hemmed right, no one will see them the whole day.

Wear something comfortable! You’re going to be on your feet all day, so you want to be able to enjoy yourself and not be dealing with pain in your feet. My best friend is getting married in a week and all the girls (bride, maid of honor [me], bridesmaid, jr. bridesmaid etc) are wearing FLIP FLOPS that she bought for us and is putting in our gifts. Yeah, they aren’t the most stylish, but they will be super comfy for all of us that day!

Where do you live? From the question I inferred that you live in Australia or somewhere else on the southern hemisphere.
Online companies, at least in the US, have excellent discounts and great return policies. If that’s how online companies in your area work, you can order the shoes online, try them on, then simply return them if they don’t fit. Capparos and Steve Madden have cute low-heeled shoes that aren’t too expensive.
Peep toe or closed toe shoes won’t look silly at all. Personally, I think that strappy sandals are usually very uncomfortable for dancing, and I’d advise you to buy a different style, or at least have a pair of “dancing flip flops”. If your dress is long enough to cover the shoes, you can wear whatever feels comfortable.

I don’t think you can find heels under 5cm…wouldn’t that be considered a “flat”. I think open toes would be much prettier…peep toes would be fine also.

Here are the prettiest, shortest ones I could find. You can find dyeables at many retail locations/bridal shops.

Do you live in the southern hemisphere? That could explain why November is springtime where you are. Just wear something comfortable. It doesn’t have to be satin or any particular style. Congrats on your nuptials!
