Obviously, you would want light shoes. These are usually the running ones. New balance is a great brand. Pumas are soccer shoes, but new balance are made for running. Scott

Well if i were you id get shoes that Support your feets shape. When i was in cross counrty i bought these Nikes that were bad for my arch ( in the foot) . in a week or so in running with those shoes i had a ankle injury. if ankle kept swelling up and i could’nt run for a week. it even hurt walking. I went to a store called ” The Walking Company ” Which has this foot scanner and it tells you what kind Arch you have and it told me that a have a collapsing arch ( Nike is known to be bad shoes for that type of arch ). i Highly suggest you get your feet checked out for your shoes or your going to REGRET IT BIG TIME LIKE I DID!!! xMach5

See you really need to go to a shoe store where the worker know what you talk about. Most people pronate when they run (their foot collapses inward). So if this is the case you would want a shoe that supports you there. Some people don’t or supinate (opposite of pronate). Then you would need shoes to accommodate that. The best way to tell what kind of feet you have is to look at an old pair of running shoes and see where they have bottom has faded the most, indicating pronation, supination. Idon’tknow

I think Nike makes some of the most overpriced, underperforming crap out there. I recommend Brooks, Asics, and New Balance. Adidas are okay. If you can afford it, Mizuno and Pearl Izumi make some amazing stuff. Reebok and Nike are just for show, in my opinion, and Under Armour shoes are very useful in the event that you actually WANT to get injured.

Whatever brand you get, don’t just go and pick out a shoe you think looks nice. Go to a store that has a treadmill with a computer hooked up to it, and they’ll do a footstrike analysis on you. Make sure you wear your current set of running shoes, if any, and some athletic clothes, because they’ll want you to run for a minute or two on the treadmill so they can see how you run. Then they’ll select a few pairs of shoes that meet with your needs. It’s definitely worth it. If you want a national chain, Road Runner and Fleet Feet are two that offer this kind of service. Simple: Get what feels right and works for you.

If you want to try minimalism, get a real light racing shoe. Other than that just go with whatever you feel most comfortable in.

Forget about brand, forget about looks. None of that is going to matter when you’re flying past people in a race.

In racing shoes just get something of good quality and again, what feels right and is suitable for the race.

Have fun, good luck with your season, now get out there and run. Tdub
