What kind of shoes should my 14 month old daughter wear?
MegM0930 asked:
My daughter is really starting to walk on her own. I want to buy her a really good pair of shoes that might be able to help her with her transition. Is there any one particular pair I should buy to help her?

flexible sole.. not too heavy, and buy cheap because these shoes will be worn out in about 5 mos.
A good pair of walking shoes that are flat on the bottom and support their ankles!
they shouldnt wear shoe untill they have full control with their walking and are able to walk on different types of grounds eg hard / soft.
The best thing to do is take her to a GOOD shoe store that has a children’s department. Do not go for the cute name brand shoes that cost a fortune and do nothing to help her feet. However, as long as she is inside or it is safe let her go barefoot so she can grip the floor with her toes.
Let her walk without shoes in the house because that helps to build an arch in her foot so that she will not have flat feet. For outside get her the high top white leather shoes.
Children’s feet grow really fast so buy them with room for the foot to grow.
My advice would be to go to stride rite (childrens shoe store) if you have one in your area, they are very knowledgable and will measure your daughters feet. they will even have her walk around in the store to see if she likes it. they may be a little expensive but I think is is worth it. But if you dont have a stride rite, get shoes that will provide ankle support. Best of luck to you.
im not a mother but i would say that crocs are really light so they would be really easy for her to walk
The best thing you can do is let her go barefoot as much as possible. Obviously, it’s cold outside, so you want to keep her feet warm and let her walk outside too, so she needs shoes, but while at home let her walk with socks only. The ones with rubberized letters are great as they help with traction.
We personally have had good luck with Stride Rite. Other brands that go along with the idea that a “flexible sole is the next best thing to bare feet” is PediPed and the Robeez-type shoes. Real leather is also better than plastic as it lets the feet breathe.
I’m really surprised more people have not said robeez. My daughter is at the same stage and I think they are great. She has protection on her feet but no restriction, she can move her little toes around. They also make an off brand that is less expensive, they sell them at Target
You should go to your local Vans store, an Outlet store will have the best deals and they are having a Buy One Get One sale on toddler shoes right now with a large selection and the kids and parents love them!
They are great shoes and they look cool/cute, running you anywhere between $9.95 and $27.00 for the full priced ones (full priced shoes are not buy one get one). They also sell soft sole shoes just in case she isn’t ready for hard soles. Hard sole sizes start at 4.
Good Luck!!
