What kind of shoes should I buy for work?

Right now I’m wearing black slip on vans, but I’ve been told they’re unsuitable because they have canvas tops (so if I drop something on my foot it’s gonna hurt.)
It’s for a job in a supermarket. Dolly/ballet shoes are not allowed.

Any suggestions? I’m in the UK, so, UK websites/shops preferred.
