Ryan C asked:

In some cultures it is considered an insult to leave your shoes on as you enter a home, in others, like some American homes, it is not. Why is it insulting or rude or disrespectful to leave your shoes on, and what is the story behind taking off one’s shoes as they enter a home?

Some cultures believe that you are bringing bad che or energy into the home that are stuck on the bottom of your soles from being outside.

Also, have you ever tried getting dirt off of a cream carpet? It ain’t fun! AverageJoe

Because I like the smell of people’s feet :-D jk, I guess it’s to keep the floor and the house clean. It seems like my mom has bad luck, everytime she washes the floor, someone steps in mud, and doesn’t take off their shoes… Bad Guy Falls in Poop

Dude, have you been outside? People spit on the ground like a zillion pounds of side walk gum.. used condoms, all kinds of stuff you really wouldnt want on your floor you spent $5000 upgrading the one you want to walk on barefoor, without fear of picking up any nasty outside substances. You better take your shoes off, whats outside stays outside. Roshaad

it is dirty… when entering anyone’s home you should always remove your shoes, unless told other wise. It really is disturbing what all you can gather on your shoes by the end of the day. Many people have carpet, this would only allow for growth of un wanted things too…. eww LQQKING
