I’d like some ideas as to what sort of clothes and shoes I should wear to the gym. I’ll be doing cardio.

anything cotton or sweat-proof like underarmor. Shorts and a tee is good. Sneakers obviously. Bob L

You can wear shorts and a tank top, shorts and a big tshirt, yoga pants. Anything like that. You need some type of athletic shoe. yay

You’ll need comfy trainers and socks on (the socks will stop you get foot infections, but take another pair to change into afterwards). If you’re doing cardio, you’ll probably get hot, so wear a vest and shorts, or cropped sweatpants if you’re a girl or shorts and t-shirt if your a boy. Make sure the clothes are appropriate to wear in an environment with other people and just make sure you’re comfortable. The Blonde One.

make sure you have proper running shoes for one year I wore my really old trainers and i used to get pain in my feet, I didn’t realise what it was until someone told me my trainers were old..

Also wear light t shirts, you want to be comfortable and light specially when you sweat. You can get good gym wear from the sports shops, also you can even wear an old t shirt, I do sometimes, you don’t have to wear really expensive sports gear..

Whatever is comfortable for you! LiverBird T

Light, airy, easy to move in type of clothes. I see so many people, girls in particular, who get dressed up in fancy sports wear to go to the gym in. They just look stupid because they can’t do anything without having to keep adjusting their top or bottoms.

If you’re doing weights, shorts and vest/t-shirt will go just fine. If you’re doing a lot of cardio though, I’d recommend lycra 3/4 lengths or shorts:

I wear them and think they’re great. They don’t ride up your legs, they get rid of sweat and they’re easy to move in because it’s almost as if you’re not wearing anything at all!
Top-wise, I’d suggest a light weight vest such as this:
They stay relatively dry and don’t stick to your skin like a regular t-shirt would.
For shoes, if you’re just doing a bit of everything it doesn’t really matter what trainers you have. If you’re specifically going to be doing running, you’ll need a proper pair of trainers though. Trust me, it makes a BIG difference.
    Hope this helps!
