i live in anchorage, ak and winter is coming… what i hate about it is walking around campus because it gets so slippery! i figured wearing my danskos on slippery walkways didn’t help so much. i want something that i don’t have to take off when i go indoors.

what kind of shoes have good traction on snow and ice?

is there anything i can use (besides YAKTRAX) to put underneath my shoes?

You might try the shoe department at a department store like Macy’s or Dillards. They sell little stick on traction pads that stick to the soles of your shoes. Fairly inexpensive and easy to use. Good Luck! Jerald O

There really is nothing available that will work other than YakTrax or something similar which you will have to remove indoors. Some hiking boots have special rubber soles that are supposed to stick to ice but they don’t work as well and they are not very cheap or fashionable. poobah
