What are some good shoes for working outside in?

Get a good leather steel-toed boot to keep your toes from getting smashed if you drop something on them.
I love Wolverine Durashocks. They have a cushioned insole that makes them very comfortable. A lot of the guys I work with swear by Red Wings, specifically Irish Setters, but the Wolverines I buy are about $50 less and just as comfortable to me. Hope this helps.
