I live in the mid-atlantic where it does not snow much but is usually fairly wet for much of the winter. However when it is not wet, it is still fairly chilly. I am a college student, so I walk a lot and was just wondering what the best fabric or material for shoes would be?

Can you wear flannel shoes in wet weather? Is it safe to assume suede is not a good bet? Basically I need something that can get wet and get gross, keeps my feet fairly warm, (but not too warm), and will last all winter. Thanks!

I have a pair of Red Chili Sausalito climbing shoes which I normally climb indoors with. Recently I used them outside and they have become quite dirty. The main problem now is that some of the black colour of the sole has transferred onto the red part of the shoe and won’t come off. What is the best way to clean them without damaging the shoe? I have seen lots of advice on websites for leather shoes but these are suede and the red dye also seems to transfer when wet.

I have several pairs of leather shoes with mildew, the Ecco’s are my favorite and they’re suede. How can I kill the mildew and the smell?
