why do all kids in barney videos have over sized shoes?

The other foot is getting blisters on the toe and heel area because the shoe is digging in.
I tried the next size up but those were way too big for me.
What are some things I can do to stop the blisters? I’ve tried bandaids and they kind of work, but look bad.
