Is it okay to switch shoes a day before a race?
Yuvraj asked:
The past few weeks I’ve been getting fit for a 5 km race, and I’ve been running in big basketball shoes, which I can run very well in, but I think running shoes would make me better. I may get real running sneakers tomorrow, and the race is the day after. Is it okay to switch shoes this abruptly?
Thanks.
Also, if I can run a 5k on a hot day with basketball shoes in 21 minutes how fast do you think I’d go with running shoes on a rainy day?

well this is a tricky question, sort of like running with weighted shoes. if you are running a 5k race it’ll probably be in short spikes or flats and if you already have some used ones you might want to use those. however i warn you about racing in new shoes while the simple squish and and turn is supposed to work just fine, i find that i need to use the shoes a week or two in advance before racing, maybe it’s a mental thing but i would recommdn you break them in first or at least take them on a test mile.
