How to I get rid of an intense smell in my shoes caused by a plant that was left there in the heat over time?

Chester asked:

My sister placed this strange plant inside my shoes a while ago. It stayed there in the heat of my closet for weeks and weeks until I discovered it; but by then it seemed like it was too late. I tried all kinds of soap and even bleach once, but minutes after I start walking around in the shoes they start smelling insanely bad, and it’s depressing because I would actually love to wear the shoes again! Can anyone help me?

  1. Kia says:

Try stuffing them with newspaper and leave it in for a few days. That will absorb at least some of the smell. Leave them out in the sun. Both of these work pretty well with mildew and we know how hard it is to rid of that smell. Kia
