How should your running shoes fit for track runners?

My 13 year old daughter started running track this season and complained about ankle pains. I read somewhere that it’s important to have good running shoes. And make sure they are laced up snug.
My daughter is one to slip on and off her running shoes while they’re laced up. Should I be concerned that she does that and should I reinforce the importance of lacing and unlacing when putting on and taking off her shoes? She’s got both running shoes and spikes.

well….for ur daughter, seeing as i have been running track since freshman year and im senior……ur daughters shoes need to fit her perfectly and be tight on the toes….not to tight that her toes cant breathe but tight enough to fit her. If she says they are to tight feel her feet and if the toe is scrunched at the top, go to the next size bigger and stop!!! u want them snug. believe me i know and its not that comfy but she will break them in Tiffany

This is my second year running track and yes it is important to lace and unlace as you take them off and put them back on. When she slips them on and off they are loose enough to get her entire foot out. and when they are loose they are uncomfortable to run in. They need to be tight, but not too tight. she shouldn’t be able to just slip her feet out of the shoes. My coaches once were telling us about how important it is to tie your shoes when you put them on. not just slip them on and go. untie them when she takes them off and tie them again when she has them on so they are nice and fit.
