How do I stop my shoes from causing blisters right above my heel?

My shoes are half a size too big, so they rub against the area right above my heel (not sure what the correct term for it is) and it rubs away my skin, is painful, and sometimes bloody.
My mom keeps offering to buy me new shoes but I don’t want to just waste money, so what are some other ways to stop getting blisters?
Would thicker socks help? I also heard there are special bandages for this or something?
Thanks for your help!!!

I recently tore a ligament in my ankle. The ankle is feeling a lot better, but I am wary of jumping back into my exercise without some better shoes. What shoes should I get to support it during my p90x workouts?

Whenever I wear flats or tennis shoes, I get scraped and sore on the back of my ankle from the back of the shoe rubbing. This is annoying cuz it takes forever to heal and it really hurts. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just buying the wrong shoe size?

I just donated over 23 pairs of shoes. I used to LOVE shoes, so this has been a disappointing blow. Do they make any cute, cushiony white sandals anywhere?
