I have heard a lot about different shoes like the sketcher’s shape ups and was wondering if anyone has ever tried any of these shoes and do they really work? How long have you tried and how long until you noticed a difference?

I am taking a martial arts class which requires running around in a gym for the first few weeks. We’re doing all sorts of running and jumping. I have a pair of running shoes, but they seem to be too “springy” for some of the jumping-based exercises that we are doing. What kind of shoe should I look into buying?

Ok, I have started a daily walking regimen but when I walk on the concrete sidewalks my lower legs start to ache. When I walk on the soft track at the school I don’t have this problem. Since the track is not always available and walking through town is a lot less boring I was wondering if there is any special type of shoes to use for walking on concrete?
try to be specific, other than “good athletic shoes”. What brands?

I just bought a new pair of shoes. They fit me, but they need to be stretched a bit. I don’t have any shoe trees or shoe stretchers. Any ideas?

I’ve been doing this workout program at home. It involves a variety of different workouts, so it’s not as though you’re doing the same thing all the time. Anyway, I wear running shoes, but something tells me I should wear more of a cross-training shoe. Do you think that’s a good idea?

And if so, what kind of cross-training shoe should I get? Who makes a good cross-training shoe: Nike, New Balance, Adidas, etc.?

Thanks!

I have trained in Asics gel cushioning system for years, and recently received a pair of Nike. Asics have provided great stability and protection through the years and been great shoes especially the original GT-II. These Nike air cushioning system shoes seem to give me more spring and creates faster turnover and I find myself training at a faster pace. Ever heard of runners taking long runs with one brand and fartlek or tempo runs with another brand. Make any sense to anyone? Not talking about racing flats, just standard training shoes about the same weight. Anyone have favorite brands they trade off for different effects? Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi,
I have been wearing steele toe shoes to work for the past two months and in that time I have seen in increase in the size of my calves and thigh muscles. Is there any correlation? The only other factor that could be at play is my biking to work, however the increase in muscle size in my legs is adding thickness as oppose to definition. Any ideas?
