Jackie asked:

I just went en pointe, and got my shoes yesterday. I have just been walking around and going on pointe and stuff, then I had a private lesson, where my teacher loosened the shoe a bit, by like breaking the sole so it would fit my arch. So we did spend some time breaking them in. But whenever I go on pointe, it really hurts my toenails, is this normal for your first time? Any advice appreciated!

trythis asked:

I have recently taken up modern jive and wanted to get some comfortable shoes for dancing in. Most shoes have rubbery soles which makes it difficult to do the turns properly and taking small steps to do the turn looks clumsy. Can anyone suggest a way of making the soles more slippery so I can spin better?

Hannah F asked:

I have the little gel cushions to put at the tip of my pointe shoe. They work really well but its a hassle to have to position them every time I put my shoes on. They came with little stick-on things but they’re not sticky. What do I do to make them stay?

They are starting to get holes near the toes, but the rest of the shoe is in really good shape. Jazz shoes are expensive and I want to keep them as long as possible while still looking professional.
