All heels without ankle straps slip up the back of my heel when I walk. I have tried lots of different styles of heels, shorter, taller, different shapes. It’s not that they are too big as I have one pair that are very tight. Yes, I have tried those heel guard/grip thingies - they don’t work in my situation. They slip whether I wear stockings or go bare and no, my feet are not sweaty or anything.

Can shoe repairers add ankle straps to a pair of heels and if so, does anyone know how much this would cost?

Yes they can add a strap, the question is where is the leather going to come from? or will you add a different color strap? Are your heels narrow? That may be the cause of your slippage. Here’s some prices for some usual repairs as you know that your repair is unique. When you do go in bring them all with you, I bet you you will get a great discount for multipule pairs, and also ask to see leather samples. Or if you like ask for a test pair. You wil pay full price of course but will also know what to expect and the job will be better ’cause he will feel the test of skills. fbarkon

Sure sound like your shoes are too big for you ! I really think that it would be rather difficult to match the exact colour of the leather by adding a strap, give a try to insoles. Genny
